All about electric cars

This blog shares some key facts about electric cars - we've got some fantastic offers on leasing electric cars right now, including Tesla, Polestar and more - click here for all of our offers

Electric Cars

Electric cars use one or more powerful electric motors powered by a bank of hi-tech batteries.

A fully electric car has no standard combustion engine and runs purely off an electric motor, therefor producing zero emissions. Electric cars are the most environmentally friendly modern vehicle type and are cost-effective thanks to no external fuel costs.

Battery technology is constantly improving and previous concerns over range and charging times are reducing. For example the Tesla Model 3 has a range of between 250 and 320 miles.

Are there any tax benefits?

Yes! Electric cars emit no CO2! That means if you are driving the car as a company vehicle, you will pay no company car tax under the current legislation.

How does an electric car work?

Electric cars use powerful electric motors instead of a petrol, or diesel engine. The electric motor is powered by a bank of hi-tech batteries. These are much more powerful than anything in your home. The technology of these batteries has been developing rapidly over the past few years.

Instead of going to a petrol station to fill up with either petrol or diesel, you go to a charging point to recharge the battery. These charging points are being installed at a very rapid rate. That’s because local councils and national government want us to use electric cars.

Are electric cars good for the environment?

Yes. A fully electric car has no standard combustion engine and runs purely off an electric motor, therefor producing zero emissions. Electric cars are the most environmentally friendly modern vehicle type and are cost-effective thanks to no external fuel costs.

Is there much choice of electric cars?

All the major manufacturers are competing to produce more and more electric cars. Browse all of our offers here.

Electric cars are here to stay and more of them are coming soon, but it can be a complex subject. It’s important to consider which electric car is right for you, depending on the distance of the journeys you make and the frequency of those journeys.
