Looking to sign write your van? Read our advice first.

If you’ve decided to lease a van for your business you may be considering adding your branding. We’ve shared our advice below but if you’ve any more questions do speak to your knowledgeable team as we can offer a complete design service with a high quality signwriting company.

Should I brand my van?

A recent survey showed that as many as 40% of trades people prefer to keep their commercial vehicles ‘brand free’ however we think that you might be missing an effective (and not always expensive) method of advertising by not having signs on your van.

The research showed that builders were the least likely to brand their vans, with 53 per cent choosing not to, while 83 per cent of roofers were happy to broadcast their profession!

Of course, we understand that some businesses may not want to draw too much attention to their van, for fear of being targeted by thieves, but with stats showing that as many as 3,000 people an hour may see your van – are you missing a trick?

How it’s done

Sign writing is pretty sophisticated these days and options are fairly wide reaching. One option is to use stencilled adhesive vinyl lettering on the bonnet, rear doors or side of the van.  Another option is a full or part vinyl vehicle wrap.

What should my signage say?

Professionals who design vehicle signage recommend keeping things simple and stick to easily identifiable images, names or logos and strong complementary colours that resonate with your brand.

Contact details should also be kept to a minimum with a website address and contact number usually sufficient.

The back of the van is often thought of as the best place for information as it gives those travelling behind you the best chance of capturing the details.

Don’t overlook telling potential customers what your business is! Graphics or words can do this as your company name might not make it immediately obvious what you do.

Can I sign-write my lease van?

Absolutely! Our team will advise you of any terms and conditions attached to your van being sign written, some companies for example prefer you to remove any signage before handing the van back at the end of the lease term whilst others will remove for you.
