Electric Car Myths Busted

Despite their increasing popularity and the growing number of models on the road, misconceptions about electric vehicles (EVs) persist and can be a deterent to making the switch to electric. This blog shares  facts, cutting through some of the fiction that’s out there! We hope you find it useful.

Myth 1: Electric cars don’t have enough range

Reality: Early electric vehicles may have had limited range, but today’s models are hugely improved. Many current EVs offer 250–400 miles on a single charge—more than enough for the average driver. EVs now easily cover most drivers daily range ….. range anxiety is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Myth 2: EVs are worse for the environment because of battery production

Reality: While producing EV batteries does require significant energy and resources, multiple studies have shown that EVs have a smaller carbon footprint over their lifetime than petrol or diesel vehicles. As the grid becomes greener with more renewable energy sources, the environmental advantage of EVs is set to grow further.

Myth 3: Electric cars are too expensive

Reality: The whole life cost of leasing an electric car is often lower than petrol or diesel vehicles – our team can create a detailed whole life cost analysis for you so you can truly understand the cost of leasing an electric vehicle – and of course with leasing you don’t need to worry about depreciation because at the end of your contract you simply hand the car back and lease another brand new car.

Myth 4: There aren’t enough charging stations

Reality: Charging infrastructure has expanded dramatically in recent years. Apps and navigation systems make finding charging stations easy, and home charging remains the most convenient option for many EV owners. Fast-charging networks are also growing nationwide so charging really isn’t the headache that many might make it out to be.

Myth 5: EVs are slow and boring to drive

Reality: Anyone who has driven an electric car knows this is simply false. EVs deliver instant torque, resulting in quick acceleration and a smooth, silent ride. Many EVs outperform traditional sports cars in speed tests. It’s true that when you first drive an EV it will feel ‘different’ to a petrol, manual car but we promise, they can be great fun to drive!

The Future Is Electric

Electric vehicles are not just a niche trend—they're the future. As technology improves and infrastructure grows, the arguments against EVs are becoming obsolete and we hope myths will disappear!
