Our thoughts on the BYD electric car range

We have been lucky enough to have a range of demo vehicles from the Build Your Dreams (BYD) range in recent weeks. The team has enjoyed getting to know the BYD Dolphin, BYD Seal and BYD Seal U. 

BYD has rapidly become a major player in the electric vehicle (EV) market, offering a range of affordable, high-tech, and efficient cars. Known for their industry-leading battery technology, particularly the Blade Battery, BYD vehicles deliver impressive range, safety, and durability. They offer modern designs, comfortable interiors, and advanced driver assistance systems.  

The BYD Dolphin was a smooth comfortable drive with ample power with a thought out and pleasant interior. Matt Eade, our account manager liked the fact there were more buttons than screens. Electric range is up to 265 miles between charges.

The BYD Seal U is a spacious and practical hybrid car (around 50 miles electric range) with tonnes of space for driver, passengers and luggage. The main screen has a function to go from landscape to portrait, depending on driver preference and was incredibly comfortable to drive. A car that would be really comfortable on a longer journey - a great family drive. 

The BYD Seal is a sleek saloon that felt like a fun drive with a sporty feel - really spacious still and lots of choice for seat position. One of our team, Claire, liked the fact that the screen could be changed from landscape to portrait as the view worked much better with her seat position. Electric range is up to 354 miles between charges - impressive!
